Avatar

Avatar portrays the whole subject on humans vs. nature in many ways. One way they are different is the biosphere of both Earth and Pandora. First off, on Earth, humans can walk around and breathe the air freely with, for the most part, not having to worry about dying. However, in Pandora, humans will die in a matter of two minutes. Their heart will stop beating. In the movie, humans have to wear a mask that gives them oxygen so they can survive in the outdoors. Humans today do not do a great job on taking care of the world. We kill any meat that we can for food and we destroy forests for wood. We were given this Earth to live on and all we have done is destroy it. We find resources and continue to overuse them. For example, we are overusing our fossil fuel supply. We haven’t given back to what nature has given us. We are the exact opposite of the Na’vi people. The Na’vi people respect their environment. If they need to go hunt for food, they hunt it but before they kill the creature, they say a prayer thanking it for feeding them and in a way sets their “spiritual” self free. They live by the motto of “All energy is borrowed and they need to give back what they have borrowed.” We interact with animals by keeping pets. The Na’vi people interact with their environment by respecting all the animals and treating them as equals. The Na’vi people seem to be at the first stage of development.
