My article is about three soldiers who were protecting the streets, in Iraq, when they got shot at. They captured the four people who were shooting at them in a house where they stored weapons and ammo. They blind folded the prisoners and were taking them to a detainee camp, when a sergeant asks another fellow soldier if they should take them to the detainee camp or just take care of them there aka kill them. He reasoning behind it was that if they just took the prisoners to the camp, the prisoners would be out in a matter of months and back on the streets killing other Americans. All in all he was doing it in favor of saving lives. The other soldier agreed on letting them kill the prisoners. The bodies of these prisoners still have not been found, but CNN received a 23.5 hour videos of confession from three soldiers who killed the prisoners. To our society, these soldiers have committed deviance on killing a man who they were suppose to take to a detainee camp. They broke the rules of the army on when they capture someone. This situation has both positive and negative sanctions. Even though the positive sanctions aren’t recognized, because of these soldiers, those four prisoners will never be on the streets trying to kill more Americans. They did what they thought was right, which in my opinion it was because those prisoners would just be back on the streets in a matter of days, weeks, or months. Negative sanctions are how our society looks upon this. Right now these soldiers are in prison because of what they did. People see this as cruel behavior. This situation is looked at more negatively than positively. These soldiers are looked at for committing a crime, when really they did it to save fellow American’s lives.
