Kohlberg's Theory

Kohlberg’s Theory is branched off of Piaget’s work, but instead it forms its own theory that explained the development of moral reasoning (Cherry n.pag.). Kohlberg based his studies off of Piaget’s theory and connected them more to the moral reasoning side. He did this in a six stage and three level theory called Kohlberg’s Theory (Cherry n.pag.). The first level is called the self-interest level. Another term for it is preconventional level which contains two of the stages. These two stages are obedience/punishment and individualism/exchange (Cherry n.pag.). The first stage, obedience, is mainly expressed with young children, but has been seen in some adults too (Cherry n.pag.).
